Guests are welcome to receive food, spiritual care, and other resources every other week
Please bring with you documents that verify your address, the last four digits of your social security number, and income (if any).
The Basics
Food Market
Guests of CHC may access the market to select food and toiletries at no charge. Appointments are required to “shop” and can be made by calling (618) 251-8021. CHC utilizes the SWAP (Supporting Wellness At Pantries), and we strive to ensure that you will find a variety of nutritious food and recipes that you and your family will enjoy.
Clothing
CHC provides a wide variety of gently-used clothing, shoes and accessories for people of all ages and sizes.
The Underwear Drawer strives to provide children with up to 8 pairs of new socks and underwear each year.
Housewares
CHC offers household goods such as gently-used kitchen accessories and bedding.
Spiritual Care
We sincerely care about the lives of our neighbors and want to offer hope and encouragement whenever possible. CHC is a Christ-centered organization; however, like Jesus, we seek to build relationships based on trust and respect. We do not require guests to pray or make professions of faith. Volunteers will gladly pray with those who wish to be supported and cared for in that way.
Soup for the Soul Cafe
You do not need an appointment to enjoy a free, freshly prepared lunch of soup, sandwiches, salad and desserts. The cafe is open Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 10AM – 1PM; and Tuesdays from 10AM – 12PM. The Cafe is closed on Thursdays.
Beyond Basics
Community Navigation
Volunteer Community Navigators connect CHC guests with resources and services they need that CHC does not provide, such as utility and rent assistance, legal advice, professional counseling, etc. Community Navigators help guests connect with those resources right on the spot. Our aim is to help t with the first 1-2 steps, so that guests can experience relief of knowing that they are not alone in tackling problems that feel overwhelming.

Summer Kids Bible Club
CHC hosts a Bible club each day throughout the months of June and July. While their parents pick up groceries and receive other services, kids can hear Bible stories, play games, earn prizes, and make crafts.
Christmas
Each year CHC hosts a Christmas toy giveaway for children ages 0-12 whose parents or legal guardians are registered guests of CHC. Parents are invited to pick toys from a wide variety that best suits their child’s interests. Parents are also given an opportunity to talk and/or pray with volunteers, as we know that the holidays can be especially difficult for many.
Easter
CHC provides Easter baskets with candy, a stuffed animal, activities, and a small book about the true meaning of Easter for the children whose parents are registered guests.
